Halifax: Annual travel insurance growing more popular
Wed 19th Sep 2007
Taking out annual travel insurance rather than just for short trips is becoming more common, according to Halifax.
It is due to the fact that people are going away more often because of cheap travel deals that annual insurance is proving more popular, the bank said.
David Bruce, a spokesperson for Halifax, said that more Britons are going on multiple short breaks rather than just one long summer vacation.
He commented: "More and more people are taking more than the traditional one summer holiday a year so it makes more sense to have annual cover.
"One of the things we always try to remind people to do in the event of a theft is to get a crime reference number, otherwise the claim cannot be validated."
According to the Association of British Insurers travel insurance can cover a variety of unfortunate incidents, including loss or theft of money, damage to possessions and medical emergencies.
