Bank Of America To Consolidate Health, Insurance Benefits
April 10, 2008
Bank of America Corp. (BAC) said Thursday it will consolidate health and insurance benefits under one carrier; give most plan participants new, company- funded health-care accounts to pay for out-of-pocket medical expenses; and offer improved financial support for new parents, child care and ongoing education starting next year.
The Charlotte, N.C., bank said Aetna Inc. (AET) will be the primary provider of health and insurance benefits for its employees, beginning Jan. 1, 2009. Aetna will also manage the delivery of medical, dental, vision, leaves of absence, disability and life-insurance programs for active and eligible U.S.- based associates and expatriates.
Bank of America said the move, which will expand its existing partnership with Aetna, will provide "better integration, simplicity and efficiency."
